Aw shucks! It's only a 3 1/2-hour ride.
Through some miscommunication, the people at the BMW motorcycle museum and campground wouldn't permit Witch Doctor, WDO, and Chad to camp there. I came by a short time later. I was a tad freaked out being all alone amongst 12,000 Harleys and they felt sufficiently sorry for me to let me set up my tent, provided me with beer, and invited me to hang out by the pool table after the museum closed. Vech and Elaine run Bench Mark Works, a nice little museum devoted to old BMW's, largely restored by Vech in his shop behind the museum.
Members of the Mississippi BMW Owners club invited me over for coffee in the morning, after which I set off for the rally. Darned if I didn't spot 2 parked Savages (one Kubota orange) and an Intruder, all with Tenessee plates! I enjoyed having the opportunity to meet Witch Doctor, WDO, Chad, Intrudin and Stef. At the end of the day, the Tennessee contingent and I rode into Starkville (13 miles) for dinner, accompanied by my new-found friends on BMW's. It was pretty cool to ride with two other Savages (and an Intruder). The BMW's soon rocketed out of sight at 80+ miles per hour.
It was great fun. Y'all have to join us next year.
